How are Young Carpo products developed?
We work with cosmetologists and chemists who have been researching ingredients and developing skin care solutions for international companies for decades.
When it comes to our star ingredient, olive leaf extract, it should be noted that we didn’t want to use any type of olive leaves. We wanted to find an olive variety in Greece with the highest concentration of oleuropein and oleacein, two extremely beneficial bioactive compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial properties. We turned to recent research conducted by the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and scientific director, Nikolaos Thomaidis in collaboration with The Region of North Aegean. For the first time a comparison of the bioactive compounds among different olive tree varieties was undertaken. The research revealed that the variety with the highest proportion of oleuropein and oleacein is called Kolovi and grows on the island of Lesvos.
This is why olive leaf extract from the “Kolovi” variety became the obvious choice for all our product formulations – the star ingredient. It is an amazing superfood for your skin! Indeed, if olive oil is liquid gold, then olive leaf extract is platinum…
We didn’t want to stop there though! Further analysis was undertaken by Prof. Thomaidis’ team and all the research results were used by a group of chemical analysts and chemical engineers who work closely with The National Technical University of Athens chemical engineering department. The aim was to develop an extract which contains the maximum amount of oleuropein and oleacein whilst being produced in a sustainable way.
Where do you source your ingredients from?
Our key active ingredients are sourced from Greece and more specifically from the following areas: Olive leaves from Lesbos (organic cultivation), mountain tea from the region of Mt. Olympus , grapeseed oil from Samos (organic cultivation), mastic gum (mastiha) from Chios, perlite from Milos. There are of course other ingredients known for their superb properties from outside of Greece, such as shea butter and aloe vera, but the stars are Greek!
I have sensitive skin. Can I use Young Carpo products?
Sure! They have been developed with sensitive skin in mind. In the unlikely case you have a reaction with one of our products, just wash it off and let us know. It might just be that your skin is not used to natural products and is trying to adapt. Rest assured there is nothing harsh or harmful for sensitive skin in our products.
I have acne. Can I use Young Carpo products?
Absolutely. This was another key priority for us, so all our products are packed with ingredients that have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, so they are suitable for acne prone skin and/or skin prone to imperfections.
Are Young Carpo products non-comedogenic?
Yes, all our products are non-comedogenic. This was a must for us and we nailed it! This means that we do not use any ingredients that might cause pore clogging. Au contraire, we use ingredients that make sure your pores stay open and clean, keeping nasties away.
I have eczema. Can I use Young Carpo products?
I actually used to suffer from chronic eczema as a child so this question is important to me. We use nothing in our products that will irritate or dry your skin. What we do use are ingredients that prevent inflammation, calm and soothe the skin, such as olive leaf, marine pine bark, grapeseed oil, aloe vera and provitamin B5, among others. If you suffer from eczema you know that a non ‘stripping’ and hydrating routine is a must. Keep at it and you will see an improvement. If you are seeing a dermatologist for your eczema, get them to check out our ingredients. I bet they’ll be impressed!
What’s the deal with Olive Leaf Extraction?
The nutritional value of olives is well known. The leaves from the “Kolovi” variety that has been used to make our extract have a higher proportion of oleuropein and oleacein, two extremely beneficial bioactive compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial properties.
Are Young Carpo products vegan?
YES! No animal by-products used. As simple as that.
Are Young Carpo products tested on animals?
NO WAY! Neither our products nor their ingredients have been tested on animals!
Do you use natural or synthetic fragrances in your formulations?
We use natural. Natural fragrances cost multiple times more than synthetic (and I don’t just mean 2 or 3 or 4x more…) but we didn’t want to compromise. We are all about natural. After all, our sense of smell is an amazing trigger of emotions and we want you to have the best – naturally! In fact, all our products contain a signature natural fragrance. A heavenly mix of Mediterranean citrus fruit and freshly cut grass.
Is Young Carpo packaging environmentally friendly?
OH YES. All parts are fully recyclable, with the exception of the pump used in our “Crystal clear” cleanser which can however be reused. We have a sustainability pledge that we are proud of. Check out our sustainability section if you want to find our more and earn 10% off you next purchase.
What is the shelf life of Young Carpo products?
The shelf life (expiration date) of all Young Carpo products is 30 months. However, all products should be used within 12 months after opening to ensure maximum effectiveness.
I like the fact that the moisturiser has a light texture, but is it effective?
Undoubtedly yes! “Seas the Day” contains olive leaf, maritime pine bark and grape seed oil extracts. Combined with soothing and replenishing oils and butters, these powerful natural ingredients, ensure your skin stays thoroughly hydrated, soft and plump, while providing protection against free radicals (toxins, dust, smoke, pollutants, UV rays). All this in a light formula so as not to make you feel that you have a heavy cream clogging up your pores. Imagine it like a light veil protecting you from environmental villains.
What makes “Crystal clear” cleanser different and more effective than others?
This is one of our favourite questions…Most cleansers contain lots of water in them. We have replaced much of the water in our formula with a mountain tea extract (organic cultivation) from Crete. Therefore, rather than having a high proportion of an “inactive” ingredient in your cleanser, you have a super active ingredient instead. Mountain tea is rich in antioxidants, so it controls excess oil and protects your skin against environmental enemies that clog your pores. It also has our olive leaf extract too of course. The results? A clearer, cleaner, glowier complexion.
Is a 2 in 1 face scrub & mask effective?
Why use two separate products when you can have a product that combines both and does the job just as well? We are firm believers in multitasking products. When used as a scrub, “Better together” will cleanse and detoxify your skin by gently removing dead cells and keeping the nasties away without stripping your skin off its natural oils, making it feel “tight”. But why not use it as a scrub first and leave it on a bit longer to also enjoy the benefits of a mask, i.e. soothing irritations and providing nourishment for your skin.
Our 2 in 1 scrub/mask is therefore more effective, better value and less wasteful for the environment. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Will the scrub strip my skin?
Don’t even think about it! This 2 in 1 scrub & mask has been developed to ensure that the stones in the scrub are rounded – not sharp – so they don’t strip your skin or leave it dry.
Why can’t I see dark “stones” in the scrub?
The stones are made from perlite, a natural resource that we like to think of as little pearls! They are white or pearl colour and allow our ‘Better together’ scrub & mask to have a smoother, creamier feel.
I have a slight tingling feeling when I leave the mask on. Is this OK?
A slight tinging feeling is normal as it’s the actives working hard. If, however this is more of a burning sensation, then you may be allergic to one of the ingredients – even the natural ones. If this happens, wash off and please let us know. It might just be that your skin is not used to natural products and is trying to adapt. So far, we have not heard of any allergic reactions.
I don’t use make up, so is the primer of any use to me?
Indeed, primer is used primarily (!) to create a canvas so as to ensure that make up is applied smoothly and looks great. However, many customers like to apply it to reduce open pores or shine. It makes skin soft and velvety and adds to their natural, non-made up look. Others apply before protective masks to avoid ‘mascne’ or before apply sun protection products. I do all three!
Do I need an account to order?

Can I change or cancel my order after it has been placed?

You bet we do! The more Carpos (points) you earn the greater the discount. Carpos are earned either by purchases, sharing/liking etc on social media or writing reviews. See our rewards section for full details.

A product I received is damaged. What should I do?
We are really sorry to hear that! If you have received a damaged item, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org providing us with details, including photos of the good in question, within 5 days of receipt. We will guide return and we will replace the product/s plus reimburse you for the cost of return. Please make sure you include your order confirmation number so that we can find your order and process your request timely.

I’ve received my order but changed my mind and would like to return it. Can I return it and get a refund?
Really? What happened? No stress. We want to make this uncomplicated, so if for some reason, you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org within 14 days of receipt, stating why you wish to return the goods and together we will resolve the issue. The product(s) need to be returned via registered post or courier and you will need to cover the return shipping costs. If there are no missing or damaged items, you will then receive a refund for your order.
Do you refund shipping costs?

Who runs Young Carpo?
OK, I don’t actually run the business…yet. I gave the adults enough feedback tο get them excited and to really think about “skin care for young skin”. They call it ‘inspiration’ and I call it my ‘aspiration’!
Young Carpo is run by two people. My mum Demetra Pallis and her business partner Tania Kofidou. Together, they have about a 100 years’ experience (maybe not that much, but lots) in insight, strategy, marketing, PR. They share the same passion for healthy, happy skin, have always followed closely all the latest trends regarding skin care products and have the business acumen to put all the wheels in action.
Of course, they can’t do all this by themselves, so they engaged other professionals with PHD’s and decades of experience in the fields of chemistry and cosmetology as team members. Together, they produce plant-based, natural products that are “food for your skin”.
Where are your offices based?
Our head offices are based in Athens, Greece – in the MED of course. We also have offices in London, UK from where we send products to customers who want UK delivery.
Where are Young Carpo products manufactured?
As a Greek-owned company, all our products are made in Greece. I guess you have heard that Greece is some sort of paradise, so skin care products from paradise sounds just about right, doesn’t it?
What do you mean by “Food for your skin”?
Just the same way that nutritious food is good for your internal organs, our products have been developed to give nutrition to your external organ – skin! You may have noticed that many superfoods have antioxidants or anti-inflammatory properties. Olive leaf extract has both of these in high concentration. In addition, it also has antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial properties for healthier skin. Moreover, all other plants and natural ingredients used in our formulations are laden with amazing properties aimed at nourishing your skin.
When will you be launching more products?
SOON! Our current range is what we consider an essential skin care range for those who want a healthy, clear, and blemish-free face.
We are currently working on body essentials such as body lotions, as well as multi-tasking products for face, body and hair.
